740 Fulton

The West Loop Market District continues its journey towards becoming its own neighborhood with the addition of a new boutique condo mid-rise at 740 W. Fulton. The 14 story building on Halsted Street and Fulton Street contains 132 one to three bedroom loft-style units. The individual units boast 11 foot ceilings with an open floor plan and views of the skyline, along with stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, and granite countertops.

The one bedroom units range from 715 to 798 square feet, and some units include a den. The one bedroom, one bath unit starts in the low $300,000s, including parking, and the units with dens begin in the mid-300s. The two bedroom plan, priced starting in the lower 400s, features two bathrooms and range from 991 to 1395 square feet overall. Some of these units have floor to ceiling windows to maximize light and views of the city, and all have terraces or balconies that can be accessed from the master bedroom and the living room. Finally there are six three-bedroom penthouses which include roof terraces. The penthouses range from 1669 square feet to 2242 square feet and feature 18 foot ceilings and large banks of windows to showcase the best of Chicago’s skyline. The prices for penthouses begin in the 800s and all penthouse units include two full parking spaces.

The living room and dining room have oak hardwood floors. The kitchen features 42-inch cabinetry and oak flooring. Grohe fixtures are standard, and granite islands are available in some units. Appliances can be ordered in black, white, or stainless steel. The master bathroom includes Grohe fixtures, dual sinks, marble floors, and marble tub and shower surrounds. Some units have a 6 foot soaking tub and some whirlpool upgrades are offered. Full size washer and dryer stackables are included with the home.

A 24 hour concierge is just one of the building amenities and services. Others include a fitness center, a business lounge with T1 wiring, and a furnished, two-story lobby. Storage lockers and bicycle storage are on hand, as well as onsite property management. The development, in the Fulton Market District, is close to the Clinton Green Line El stop and Randolph Street’s Restaurant Row is within walking distance, as is Greektown, Northwestern Station and the East Bank Club. A Dominick’s is a few blocks south on Halsted St. The Market District neighborhood has also recently gained attention for the addition of the restaurant Moto, whose young executive chef, Homaru Cantu, recently beat Iron Chef Morimoto on Iron Chef America. Several art galleries have also opened in the neighborhood, but fish markets are still in operation and some are open to the public so that the freshest fish may be obtained by all Chicagoans.

The Thrush Companies have received several awards for their multi-use and multi-family buildings. Another current project is “Jazz on the Boulevard” on the South Side. According to Thrush’s website, a joint promotion with Wells Fargo bank is in effect.
