Townhomes are attached homes with a private street entrance, multiple floors, and roof rights. Nobody lives below or above you. Townhome communities offer some of the same benefits of condo ownership, such as a Home Owners Association, and also give added amenities, such as a private backyard and attached garage. Some townhome developments offer 'Fee Simple' ownership, which gives you exclusive ownership of the land. However, depending on the contract signed with the Home Owners Association, you could be responsible for the upkeep of external areas of your townhome.
