SoNo in Lincoln ParkClick Here To Get Up To Date Pricing & AvailabilitySmithfield Properties and architects Booth Hansen are at it again, teaming up on another new building and another hip acronym to toss around. In addition to their collaborative MoMo Residences going up at 8 E. Randolph in Lincoln Park, they now bring to the world (or at least to the downtown Chicago condo market) the SoNo in Lincoln Park. The SoNo, which stands for “South of North Avenue,” stands at 1454 N. Dayton, which is, indeed, two blocks south of North. Smithfield acquired the site of the project way back in 1997 and commissioned a residential building for the spot. However, a series of re-zonings for the area were proposed that delayed the progress of the project for quite some time. Things went back and forth, but in the end, Smithfield was allowed by the city to proceed with construction. Outside of the SoNo, it should be noted, current zoning prohibits residential high-rise buildings in the district enclosed by West North Avenue, North Halsted, West Division, and the Chicago River. ![]() A model interior of SoNo Chicago Potential SoNo dwellers have a number of one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans to choose from in search of their dream home. The units run from 788 square feet on up to 1656 square feet and are arranged over the area of the projects’ two identical towers, which rise 28 floors each. Smithfield hopes SoNo will be seen as an icon of both architecture and luxurious urban living and is very proud of the unobstructed views of Lake Michigan and the skyline that residents will be able to enjoy. The units come with all the amenities and high-end finishes buyers know and love, including nine-and ten-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and all the space needed to make a house a home. Prices start in the high $200’s. The building stands in one of Chicago’s premiere areas and SoNo residents will have an easy getting to all the fun, frolic, and shopping of Lincoln Park. Area restaurants include Japonais, Stanley’s, Hecky’s, and Vinci. Entertainment choices include the Steppenwolf and Royal George Theaters. Daily grinders like Dominick’s, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and CVS are also close by. The shop-til-you-drop types out there will love being close to Lori’s Designer Shoes, Best Buy, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, and Home Depot. Smithfield Properties is considered one of Chicago’s elite home builders and have many past successes behind them, including Willow Court, Erie on the Park, and the Greenview Homes. Their website (www.smith-field.com) lists the SoNo as currently for sale, so interested parties should make a move, as Smithfield projects have a reputation for selling out quickly. The SoNo Sales Center is located at 1454 North Dayton in Chicago. by Mike O'Cull Request more information on SoNo Privacy Policy: I respect your privacy and promise to never sell, rent, or share your email address with any unauthorized party...
