North Center is one Chicago neighborhood that is bucking the trend of lower sales of Chicago condos and lofts. The area offers a great variety of new and re-sale condominiums at prices that are perfect for first time buyers and families.

One development that is brand new to the area is located at 2724 W Byron Street. This unique development of luxury townhomes has been cut out of the heart of California Park, right on the banks of the Chicago River, and offers a total of 56 units.

While there are no new listings currently on the market at 2724 W Byron, buyers can get an idea of pricing for these townhomes from listings that have been on the MLS over the past few months. The real estate market in North Center has been one of the strongest of any Chicago neighborhood in recent months. The neighborhood enjoyed the second highest total sales in the last 18 years in 2007. According to data from the Chicago Association of Realtors, a total of 495 units were sold in the neighborhood during the year, up from 445 condominiums sold during 2006.

Buyers continue to see prices inching up around North Center. The average sales price for condos sold in 2007 was 2 percent higher than during the previous year. With a relatively stable inventory of new units on the market, prices could continue to show signs of strength in the short term.
