The tight inventory may have played a role in helping prices rise in the neighborhood. The average sales price of condos and lofts sold during the fourth quarter was 5 percent higher than during the same period in 2006.

The neighborhood's popularity and excellent location will surely help prices remain steady and continue rising despite a slowdown in the market. Also, the area continues to be one of the most affordable neighborhoods on Chicago's north side.
