Chicago realtors - are they for you? You want to sell your home, but you want to do so much more than just sell it. The first thing you will want to ask yourself is whether or not the commission you will have to pay a REALTOR is worth your money.  This is how the commission works:  You will be asked to take a percentage of the commission out, typically around %6 to pay both your listing agent and the buyer's agent.  Three percent would go to your representative and three percent would go to the buyer's agent.  This six percent may hinder you not only in that you will recieve less money, but you will also have less negotiatng power when it comes to making a buyer an offer.  But, there are reasons to list your home with a REALTOR.

Advertising and Marketing

One asset that REALTORS have that you may not have is the ability to advertise your home in newspapers, magazines, and most importantly, on the Web.  This is something that can help you choose a REALTOR.  Check out what publications the company advertises in and definately surf the Web to ensure a strong Web presence.  They can hold Open Houses for you and broadcast the information to the local REALTOR Board.

Knowledge

Finally, there are a lot of things Chicago realtors know that you may not know.  They know which inspectors and appraisers are the most efficient.  They can complete a CMA or Comparative Market Analysis to ensure that your house is priced to sell.
