August 1, 2007 – Construction is underway at R+D659 on the corner of Randolph and Desplaines Streets. The 17 story condominium will house 237 units with a choice of 20 different floor plans for the one to three bedroom condos.

Mesirow Financial Real Estate reports that already close to 80 percent of the available condos have been sold. Of those, 24 one bedroom condos are offered at a reduced price of around $147,000. Down from the base price of from $200,000 to $500,000 this plan is part of the Chicago Partners for Affordable Neighborhoods program.

Condos at R+D659 include interior finishes such as Italian cabinets in the kitchens and baths, along with the standard granite and marble touches. Slate, Eucalyptus wood and carpeting cover the floors. Nine foot high ceilings and expansive windows round out the features.

The building itself will contain a fitness center, business center, lounge with television and bar, green roof top sun deck with grilling area, dog run and bike storage room. Heated underground parking space will also be provided for residents.

R+D659 is slated for completion by the end of 2008, and the fast growing West Loop neighborhood where it is located is a major draw for sales of these luxury condos. With Grant Park, Museum Campus and all of its attractions plus the restaurant scene, it’s easy to see why the sales numbers are so high for this development.
