40th Anniversary Celebration For Lake Point Tower
comments!
August 31, 2009 – One of Chicago’s iconic buildings is having its 40th anniversary celebration. Lake Point Tower was actually finished in 1968, but residents didn’t begin moving in until 1969, which makes 2009 the 40th year to commemorate and also works well for the purpose of promoting this unique tower.
According to a recent profile in the Sun Times, the homeowners association at Lake Point Tower is hoping to generate some hype about the high-rise and maybe even get official landmark status. The group is promoting both a video and brochure about the tower and is also publishing a book that will be out later this fall.
The Streeterville tower was designed by John Heinrich and George Schipporeit with a bit of influence from Ludwig Mies van der Rohe buildings. The article pointed out that besides having some incredible lake and city views, the tower has a private park nearly equal to a city block in size. The park was designed by landscape architect Alfred Caldwell and residents of the tower can rightfully argue that only the Shore Club at Aqua could give them a run for their money in terms of size.
Some of more notable residents of this Chicago real estate development over the years includes Goldie Hawn, Cubbie Ryne Sandberg, Chicago Bull Scottie Pippen, Halle Berry and Tom Cruise.
The Chicago Condos in this tower are reasonably priced, so you might want to check out the ones that are available and buy a little piece of Chicago history.
